Hassan Hanafi, a professor of philosophy at Cairo University, died on 21st of October at the age of 86. The Supreme Imam of Egypt's Al-Azhar University, Ahmad al-Tayyib, was one of the first to express his condolences.

On 20th of October, the regular session of the UNESCO Executive Council ended. At this action, a historic decision was made for Uzbekistan. The draft decision "Khiva process: Promotion of international cooperation in Central Asia" was adopted. This draft is the first document of the Uzbek side, which was approved by the Executive Council.
