Damir Mukhetdinov held a meeting with the leadership of the Baku International Multiculturalism Center
On 12th of October, First Deputy Chairman of the RBM RF, Executive Secretary of the Muslim International Forum, Doctor of Theology Damir Mukhetdinov, while on a visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, visited the Baku International Center for Multiculturalism (BMCM) and was received by the leadership of the center headed by Executive Director Ravan Hasanov.

Damir Mukhetdinov conveyed to the participants of the meeting fraternal greetings and good wishes of the religious leader of Russian Muslims Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin and his support for all good initiatives in favor of dialogue and cooperation between peoples, cultures and states.

As the representative of the RBM RF noted during the meeting, theoretical and practical developments on the preservation of the foundations of cultural and religious diversity, the study of cultural heritage, support for the preservation of history, culture and religious monuments using the potential of civil society are of undoubted interest in the work of the BMCM. Support for the ethnic, religious, linguistic, and cultural diversity of the country, elevated to the level of state policy, are principles very close to the positions of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation.

The First Deputy Chairman of the RBM RF spoke about the approaching 1100th anniversary of the official adoption of Islam by the peoples of Volga Bulgaria, with the submission of the religious leader of Russian Muslims Mufti Gaynutdin supported by national leader Vladimir Putin. The 1100th anniversary is thought of by Russian Muslims as a common holiday of Muslims of Eurasia, honoring the traditions of peaceful development and coexistence of Muslims with other religious communities in many states of Eurasia, the Russian religious figure stressed.

Having informed the host party about the upcoming World Conference on Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue in St. Petersburg in May 2022, Damir Mukhetdinov, being a member of the organizing committee of the world-wide event, invited the Baku International Center for Multiculturalism to participate in the forum and contribute to strengthening intercultural and interreligious communication and cooperation.

In turn, the executive director of the BMCM Ravan Hasanov recalled that the appeal of the leader of Russian Muslims Ravil Gainutdin to the President of the republic Ilham Aliyev with words of spiritual support for the revival of religious monuments and shrines of Karabakh in the fall of 2020 was highly appreciated by the Azerbaijani public. A wide response was caused by the principled position of the RBM RF in relation to international organizations and the call not to interpret the military actions in Karabakh in the key of an interreligious conflict, which it was not. According to observers, such a principled position contributed to the rapid establishment of peace in the former zone of military conflict and became one of the success factors of peacekeeping efforts.

The Multiculturalism Center, established by the order of the President of Azerbaijan in 2014, is one of the key operators of the republic's international humanitarian activities, carrying out its activities not only in Azerbaijan, but also in many countries through a network of branches. From Russia, China and the USA to Indonesia, the events organized by the BMCM, both independently and jointly with various state structures, bring to the attention of the world community the history, culture, statehood of Azerbaijani citizens of various nationalities and confessions.
