Damir Mukhetdinov met with the leadership of the State Committee of Azerbaijan for Work with the Diaspora
During his stay in Azerbaijan, the first deputy chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, Executive Secretary of the Muslim International Forum, Rector of the Moscow Islamic Institute Damir Mukhetdinov held a meeting with the first deputy of the State Committee of Azerbaijan for Work with the Diaspora Valeh Hajiyev and with the head of the department in charge of the Russian direction, Ruslan Guliyev.

The State Committee for Diaspora Affairs is the central executive authority that ensures the implementation of state policy in working with the Diaspora, the expansion and development of relations with Azerbaijanis living abroad, with diaspora organizations established by them, as well as other diasporas friendly to Azerbaijan, coordinating the activities of state bodies and non-governmental organizations in this area.

Damir Mukhetdinov, opening the meeting, conveyed greetings and wishes of peace and blessings of Allah to the host party on behalf of the religious leader of Russian Muslims, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin. Damir Hazrat noted that according to various estimates, the Azerbaijani diaspora in Russia ranges from 3 to 3.5 million people, while up to a million Azerbaijanis live in the capital region, and such a significant ethnic community requires attention and care. The Azerbaijani Diaspora in Russia has a centuries-old history and occupies a significant place in the history and culture of the country. A special place in the relations between the countries is occupied by the historical relations of the fraternal ummas of the two peoples, which is always noted by the mufti, Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin.

In turn, Valeh Hajiyev noted that Diaspora construction is one of the priorities of the state policy of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The strengthening and cohesion of the Diaspora abroad lies in the development of relations between the Azerbaijanis of the world with their historical homeland, the preservation of national identity, the protection of cultural and political rights.

Damir Mukhetdinov stressed that at the present stage the concept of "diaspora" has become an important element of international relations. The visit of a representative of the Duma of the Russian Federation to the State Committee of Azerbaijan shows an understanding of the role of the diaspora and its significance. Today, it is Azerbaijan that is the conductor and implementer of advanced methods of working with the diaspora, when relations are expanding not only with its own diaspora, but also direct cooperation is being built with diaspora structures of other peoples and state bodies of different countries engaged in this direction.

Spiritual and religious components are important for the strengthening and qualitative maintenance of the diaspora. Education of young people, preservation of historical traditions, active resistance to the penetration of ideas of extremism - this is not a complete list of topical issues and problems that are common to the organization uniting millions of Azerbaijanis abroad and the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation.

During the conversation and discussion of the pressing problems of the life of the Azerbaijani diaspora, Damir Mukhetdinov and Valeh Hajiyev agreed on the need for the participation of Islamic organizations in cooperation with the Diaspora.
