Executive Secretary of the International Muslim Forum Damir Mukhetdinov visited the Republic of Belarus
The executive secretary and head of the working group of the International Muslim Forum Damir Mukhetdinov visited the Republic of Belarus. He took part in the conference "Religion and Communication", and also spent the Friday namaz in the Central Mosque of Minsk.
The conference "Religion and Communication", organized by the leading religious studies centers of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine, was attended by scientists, teachers, experts, analysts specializing in studying the phenomenon of religion in its religious studies, theological, historical, philosophical, sociological, anthropological, cultural, political and other multiple and relevant forms and aspects.
Damir Mukhetdinov delivered a report on the disciplinary boundaries of Islamic theology.
“Genuine religious studies are a comparative study of religions, which compares not only the substantive content of religious traditions, but also the languages with which we reflect on this content,” he said. According to him, the goal of a scholar of religious studies is not a victory in a disguised missionary competition, but a cognition, a way of understanding oneself and another, “he should be able to reveal all the richness of Islamic tradition".
As Damir Mukhetdinov emphasized, in Islam there is no dogmatic theology in the strict sense of the word, which would be supported by the indisputable religious authority of the Ecumenical Councils or the head of the Church.
“Islamic ijma, a consensus of scholars, has a much more informal status. The “canon” of six reliable collections of hadiths in Sunnism was formed by informal agreement, and not by the approval of higher hierarchs. Each person is left alone with his knowledge and ignorance, and his opinion is not immune to criticism and is taken into account only to the extent of rational validity and credibility”, he said.
On Friday, March 22, at the invitation of the Chairman of the Republican Religious Association "Muslim Religious Association in the Republic of Belarus" esteemed mufti Abu-Bekir Shabanovich, Damir Mukhetdinov held a juma namaz in the Cathedral Mosque of Minsk.
