Meeting of Damir Mukhetdinov with members of the delegation of the Turkish Embassy
On 25th of June, 2021, the First Deputy Chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, Rector of the Moscow Islamic Institute, Executive Secretary of the Muslim International Forum, Professor Damir Mukhetdinov, met with the Deputy Chairman of the Department of the Republic of Turkey for the Affairs of Compatriots and Related Communities Abroad, Sayit Yusuf. The guest was accompanied by the Adviser of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Moscow Djem Gunduz, the Adviser on Religious Affairs of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Moscow Omer Faruk Savuran and the translator of the Department of Religious Affairs Abobukar Batygov.

At the beginning of the meeting, Damir Mukhetdinov conveyed greetings to the guests from the religious leader of Russian Muslims, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin. He introduced the visitors to the history of the development of Islam in Russia and the status of Muslims, told about the activities of the RBM RF, shared his plans for the future.

The First Deputy Chairman of the RBM RF highly appreciated the prospects of cooperation with the Department for Compatriots and Related Communities Abroad of the Republic of Turkey, spoke about strategic cooperation with the Department for Religious Affairs of the Republic of Turkey.

As Damir Mukhetdinov stressed, significant historical anniversaries will be celebrated in Russia and Turkey in the coming years. In 2022, at the initiative of Mufti Gaynutdin, the 1100th anniversary of the official adoption of Islam by the peoples of Volga Bulgaria will be celebrated in the Russian Federation, and 2023 will be the year of the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Republic of Turkey. He informed the Turkish delegation that by decree of Russian President Vladimir Putin, the federal organizing committee for the celebration of the 1100th anniversary was headed by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin.

The sides confirmed their readiness to increase constructive cooperation in the future in all traditional areas of cooperation between the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation and the Turkish side, including in organizing and conducting joint events, publishing Islamic literature, opening mosques and madrassas on the territory of the Russian Federation with the direct participation of the Turkish side, and other areas.

The meeting was held in a friendly and constructive atmosphere. Many of the proposals expressed during the conversation found great interest among the members of the delegation of the Turkish Embassy.
