First Deputy Chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, Executive Secretary of the Muslim International Forum, Rector of the Moscow Islamic Institute, Director of the Center for Islamic Studies of St. Petersburg State University Damir Mukhetdinov met with Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Honored Artist of Azerbaijan Rafael Huseynov during his visit to Azerbaijan. The meeting was held at the State Museum of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan named after Nizami Ganjavi. The Academic Council of the museum is headed by the director of the Museum, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Doctor of Philology Rafael Huseynov.

Founded in Baku in 1939, the museum named after the great Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi carries out two important functions simultaneously by the forces of the research team: the museum and the research institute with postgraduate studies, training, publishing a number of scientific journals with the publication of scientific articles by museum staff covering the problems of classical and modern literature, culture and philosophy.

Damir Mukhetdinov noted that the meeting at the Nizami Museum is of particular importance, since 2021 it has been declared the Year of the great poet and philosopher Nizami Ganjavi in Azerbaijan. In Russian cultural life, which has absorbed the creativity of different peoples of the world, the genius of Nizami and the associated memorable dates are always celebrated with great respect. Suffice it to say that even during the Second World War, the anniversary of the great poet was celebrated by local scientists in besieged Leningrad. The Nizami Museum is rightfully proud of Nizami Ganjavi's unique manuscript "Iskandar-name" of 1418, manuscripts of poems with miniatures dated 1479.

The Museum is also a traditional center of Russian-Azerbaijani cultural and scientific relations: since 2010, the Center for Russian-Azerbaijani Literary Relations named after S.A. Yesenin has become one of structural branches.

Rafael Huseynov and Damir Mukhetdinov discussed practical participation in joint scientific and cultural projects between Azerbaijan and Russia. A memorandum of cooperation will be signed in the near future, which will officially consolidate the beginning of scientific and practical interuniversity and academic cooperation.
