The rapprochement of Islam and Catholicism has developed in Russia
On 16th of March, at the invitation of the Catholic side, First Deputy Chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation (RBM RF), Executive Secretary of the Muslim International Forum Damir Mukhetdinov met with Archbishop Paolo Pezzi, Chairman of the Conference of Catholic Bishops of Russia, Metropolitan of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of the Mother of God in Moscow.

In addition to Damir Mukhetdinov, the meeting with the archbishop was attended by Ilgizar Davletshin, Head of the Department for Interaction with state Authorities of the Department of Internal Affairs of the RBM RF, and Jean-Francois Thiri, Director of the Pokrovsky Gate Cultural Center.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the presentation of the Russian-language translation of Pope Francis ' encyclical Fratelli tutti (All Brothers), the prospects for the development of interreligious cooperation and joint work with the Roman Catholic Church in Russia and abroad, including in education sphere and science, as well as publishing activities.

During the conversation, Damir Mukhetdinov stressed that the RBM RF and Publishing house "Medina" have been systematically engaged in the development of interreligious dialogue for several years, not only at the level of implementing social projects, but also by forming a theoretical basis for this dialogue, both theological and scientific. In particular, it was noted that it is not the first year that there is Muslim International Forum, which raises issues of the development of interreligious relations. The Forum is attended by representatives of different faiths. In addition to holding forums and conferences, important works and documents on interreligious topics are also regularly published.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to strengthen and develop cooperation in different spheres.
