Virtual 3D tour of the exhibition "Images of Shrines. Mecca and Medina in the monuments of Islamic Fine Art"
The State Museum of Oriental Art has launched a virtual 3D tour of the exhibition "Images of Shrines. Mecca and Medina in the monuments of Islamic fine Art".

To get acquainted with the exposition, which presented previously unknown miniatures of Islamic manuscripts of the XVIII-XIX centuries from the collections of Moscow, Kazan, Novosibirsk and Yalta, as well as Tatar, Indian and Pakistani shamaili depicting Mecca and Medina from the collection of the Museum of Oriental Art, Kazan collections and the collection of the Marjani Foundation - a total of about forty items, you can follow the link: http://http://my.matterport.com/show/?m=KAuNspGKHwD. This 3D tour allows you to take virtual walks through the halls of the museum, examine individual works in detail and get additional information about each exhibit.

The project, organized by the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation jointly with the State Museum of Oriental Art in the person of Deputy Director, Doctor of Historical Sciences Ilya Zaitsev, was dedicated to the 1100th anniversary of the official adoption of Islam by the peoples of Volga Bulgaria and was supported by the History of the Homeland Foundation.

The exposition demonstrates the uniqueness of the pictorial tradition in the art of Islam, the origins of the images of the holy cities - Mecca and Medina. It was attended by: the Marjani Foundation, the Russian State Library, the Scientific Library of Kazan Federal University, the State Public Scientific and Technical Library of the SB RAS, the Yalta Historical and Literary Museum, the Scientific Library of MGIMO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the Ivanovo State Museum of Local Lore named after D.G. Burylina, National Library of the Republic of Tatarstan, Central Scientific and Technical Library for Construction and Architecture.

The exhibition was held from 10th of September till 17th of October 2021.
