XVII Muslim International Forum: from Ecological Preaching to Ecological Thinking
The XVII annual meeting of the Muslim International Forum will be held on 15th of December 2021 on the topic "From ecological preaching to ecological thinking: the search for the optimal way of speaking". The forum, which will be held in an online format, will be addressed by the Secretary General of the International Muslim Forum, Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin.

"In the prevailing ecological discourse nowadays, there is a sharp transition from the articulation of disappointing statistical data and unfavorable forecasts to moralistic instruction, the time has convincingly demonstrated that such a way of talking about the inextricable relationship of life forms on our planet and about our common destiny is not effective. In the formation and strengthening of ecological thinking, the preaching of ecological values, which is usually preceded by a depressing factual summary, has not justified itself. Moreover, her claim to an exceptional way of talking about problems that are considered to be environmental, hinders the search for more productive discussion formats," the announcement of the event says. The public and religious leaders meeting within the framework of the MIF meeting intend to jointly search for the most relevant formats of public discussion of the environmental and climate agenda based on the humanistic foundations of religious traditions.

The forum will be attended by speakers from Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Egypt, Iran, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Finland, France, the United Kingdom, the United States and other countries.

The forum is organized by the International Public Organization "Muslim International Forum", the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation with the support of the Foundation for Islamic Culture, Science and Education and the Safmar Charitable Foundation.
