Meeting culture is an opportunity for many voices to be heard - Vatican cardinal
"Meeting culture" – a concept proposed by the Catholic Church by Pope Francis-is a mutually enriching and educational process. It is based on genuine communication-a dialogue in which all participants are simultaneously ready to" give "and"receive".
Cardinal Miguel Angel Ayuso Guixot,, President of the Pontifical Council for interreligious dialogue and prefect of the Commission on religious relations with Muslims, spoke about this at the XVI Muslim International Forum "culture of encounter: religious ethics during the pandemic".
This approach not only provides a mutual exchange of views, but also provides an opportunity for "many voices to be heard at the same table" and, more importantly, to be involved in the discussion and resolution of pressing problems of our time, he said.
Speaking about the role of religious leaders in the modern world, the Vatican cardinal stressed the importance of working together and working closely for the common good, healing the world in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic and identifying further ways to address its negative socio-economic consequences. All these challenges facing religious ethics in the age of the pandemic imply the realization that without solidarity, it will be impossible to "rebuild a new world".
At the end of his speech, His Eminence also quoted excerpts from the recent addresses and messages of the head of the Roman Catholic Church, which are in tune with the main theme of the Forum. Among them: Pope Francis ' appeals to work together for justice and peace, as well as calls for awareness of the sense of belonging to a single human family.
