Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin meets with Jordanian Ambassador Khaled Shawabqa
Yesterday, at the residence of the religious leader of the Muslims of Russia in the Moscow Cathedral Mosque, the chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation (RBM RF), the General Secretary of the Muslim International Forum, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Jordan to the Russian Federation, Mr. Khaled Shavabqa. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation for International Affairs Rushan Hazrat Abbyasov, the Deputy Chairman-Head of the staff of the RBM RF Ildar Nurimanov, the head of the International Department of the RBM RF Ildar Galeev, the diplomat of the Jordanian Embassy Mr. M. Amjad.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin conveyed greetings and best wishes to His Majesty King Abdullah II and the whole Jordanian people.
"Thanks to the friendly relations between Vladimir Putin and Abdullah II, we are observing the steady development of bilateral contacts, and a solid foundation has been created for Russian-Jordanian relations, covering a variety of areas from nuclear energy to trade and the economy. It is gratifying that the policy of His Majesty King Abdullah II is characterized by balance, the desire to build strong partnership relations with Russia, " Mufti Gaynutdin said, that it is also important that the King of Jordan makes a lot of efforts in the international field to combat stereotypes about Islam and Muslims, using all possible international platforms, defending the true values of Islam, expressed in mediocrity, tolerance, good neighborliness, mutual respect.
The religious leader of the Muslims of Russia stressed that His Majesty King Abdullah II's visit to the Cathedral Mosque during his last visit to Moscow can be described as historic, since it was thanks to this visit that a new impulse was given to Russian-Jordanian relations in the Islamic sphere.
In particular, according to Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, the last meeting of the Council of Ulema of the RBM RF was held with high-ranking Jordanian participation. Lectures for the members of the Council were given by the Supreme Mufti of Jordan Abdulkarim Al Hasawnah and the Mufti of the Armed Forces of Jordan Sheikh Majid Darawish.
It is expected that in the near future a memorandum of cooperation will be signed between the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation and the General Directorate for Fatwa Affairs of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, Mufti Gaynutdin informed the Ambassador of Jordan.
The sides also discussed issues aimed at expanding the current cooperation. In particular, an agreement was reached to expand the Hajj and Umrah programs to include visits to Muslim monuments and iconic sites in Jordan, as well as visits to the Al-Aqsa Mosque in transit through Jordanian lands.
"For many years, the Al-Quds Day (Jerusalem) has been held on a large scale within the walls of the Moscow Cathedral Mosque with the active participation of the Jordanian side. Muslims all over the world are well aware that King Abdullah II of Jordan is a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)and patronizes one of the shrines of Islam-the Al-Aqsa Mosque. His Majesty pursues a wise policy to preserve the Al-Aqsa Mosque and protect the rights of believers and civilians in the Palestinian lands," Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin said.
The sides agreed to continue cooperation within the framework of holding this event within the walls of the Cathedral Mosque.
An important item on the agenda of relations between the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation and relevant Jordanian organizations and departments is the events dedicated to the Amman Declaration.
The religious leader of the Russian Muslims spoke about the plans for the upcoming celebration of the 1100th anniversary of the official adoption of Islam by the peoples of Volga Bulgaria in 2022, which will be held with the support of Russian President Vladimir Putin, and invited the Jordanian side to actively participate in these major events.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Jordan to the Russian Federation Khaled Shavabqa expressed gratitude to Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin for the opportunity to meet and visit the main Muslim temple of the country — the Moscow Cathedral Mosque, and also confirmed that the Embassy of Jordan will continue close cooperation with the Muslims of Russia, which will contribute to the further strengthening and development of friendly relations between the peoples of the two states.
