On 28th of November, the summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) was held in Ashgabat
The summit was attended and addressed by the Heads of State and Government of the ECO member States. These are Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkey and Uzbekistan.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov was elected Chairman of the summit.

The event was held in person, the sides signed the final document - the Ashgabat Consensus for Action.

The Heads of State and Government of the participating countries, as well as the ECO General Secretary, who spoke during the meeting, emphasized that the current summit has become an effective platform for making decisions on current and key aspects of regional economic cooperation in the ECO space. Also, on the platform of the Organization, all conditions have been created for the further development of multilateral regional cooperation for the socio-economic growth of the member countries, as well as the expansion of effective cooperation in the fields of trade, industry, transport and communications, agriculture, energy, healthcare, education, science and culture.

Currently, the ECO is a respected, authoritative international economic structure that has received recognition in the world and the meeting was designed to further strengthen the relations of friendship, good-neighborliness and effective mutually beneficial partnership between all member states, to determine the areas of joint work for the coming period.

The document adopted at the end of the summit states, in particular, that the sides recognize the importance of "regional cooperation, integration and transport connectivity as a vital way to accelerate economic and social progress, development and stability in the region."

Attention was also paid to environmental issues, food security, cooperation in the energy sector, and countering drug trafficking. In addition, the sides confirmed the desire "for a safe, prosperous and peaceful Afghanistan" and the necessity of providing humanitarian assistance to its residents.
