Russian Muslims will present their experience at the World Conference of Politicians and Religious Leaders in 2022
On 21 January 2021, on behalf of Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, the first Deputy Chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, D. Mukhetdinov, took part in a meeting of the Interreligious Council of Russia. The special guest of the meeting was the High Representative of the UN General Secretary for the Alliance of Civilizations, Mr. Miguel Angel Moratinos.

At the beginning of his speech, Damir Mukhetdinov greeted the distinguished guest and all the participants of the interreligious meeting on behalf of Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin and conveyed the wishes of peace, the mercy of the Almighty and His blessings.

In his speech the first Deputy Chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims (RBM)of the Russian Federation noted the special importance of the upcoming Russian Federation in 2022 event scheduled for 21 may in Moscow the world conference of heads of states, Parliamentarians and Leaders of World Religions on Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue for the Benefit of Peace and Humanity under the auspices of the United Nations and the celebration of the 1100th anniversary of the official adoption of Islam by the peoples of Volga Bulgaria. The organization and holding of these events next year, their full support at the state level, according to the religious figure, indicates the serious attention of the Russian leadership to traditional religions and issues of dialogue and cooperation of civilizations.

According to Damir Mukhetdinov, the voice of religious leaders in defense of peace, harmony, and mutual understanding is more important than ever. "In the past year, when again in the EU countries-France, Germany, Austria-such an important idea as the dialogue of civilizations was questioned and again they started talking about the clash of civilizations, we saw how European and world societies were on the verge of war. And this conflict involved not just ordinary citizens, ordinary believers and non-believers, but also the presidents of individual countries exchanged harsh statements against each other. This, of course, inflamed the situation, " he said. All this once again underlines that the voice of religious leaders is more necessary and important than ever."

Finishing his speech, Damir Mukhetdinov drew the attention of the participants of the meeting of the Interreligious Council of Russia to the creation of a book series on the topic "Interreligious Dialogue". The project is implemented on the basis of the Publishing House "Medina" together with the Muslim International Forum. Major theologists and representatives of the traditional religions of Russia are invited to cooperate. The first book in the series "Interreligious Dialogue" was the publication of the first Russian-language translation of the encyclical of Pope Francis "Fratelli tutti" – "All brothers".
In conclusion, D. Mukhetdinov once again stressed the importance of inter-civilizational and inter-religious dialogue in the modern world, positively assessed the activities of the Inter-Religious Council of Russia, and also invited the guest of honor-Mr. Miguel Angel Moratinos to visit the Moscow Cathedral Mosque.

Miguel Moratinos, in turn, expressed the belief that, in contrast to the twentieth century, which has become an era of atheism, in the twenty-first century, "spirituality returns". "Now any political leader has already realized that he cannot create peaceful coexistence in society without religious traditions. Therefore, I believe that the initiative of the Russian Federation, as well as our parliamentary union, is very timely, "the diplomat said.

According to the High Representative of the UN General Secretary for the Alliance of Civilizations, the time has come not for individual meetings with political, public and religious leaders, but for all of them to come together.
"I think it will be a historic summit. And it will be so, not only because it is necessary and now is the right time to hold it, but also because it will be the first time when political and religious leaders and parliamentarians will come together, "the UN representative is assured.

At the end of his speech, he greeted the activities of the Interreligious Council of Russia, stressing that there are not many countries in the world where such councils work, bringing together representatives of different religious traditions.
