Saudi Arabia resumes selling tickets for high-speed trains to Mecca and Medina
Saudi Arabia has resumed the sale of tickets for the high-speed rail service between Mecca and Medina, a key transport artery for Hajj and Umrah pilgrims. The high-speed train "Haramein" will resume operations from 31st of March 2021.
The Kingdom's transport chiefs conducted operational tests before its full return to service.
The railway system was hit by a massive fire at Jeddah Al-Sulaymaniyah station in September 2019. The decision to reopen the railway was made only after passenger safety was ensured, said Ryan Al-Harbi, deputy director of the Haramain High-Speed Railway.
