The delegation of the RBM RF met in Cairo with the Minister of Waqfs of Egypt Mohammed Mukhtar Gomaa
On 14th of March, on the platform of the international conference "Dialogue of Cultures and Civilizations" in Cairo, a delegation of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation met with the Minister of Waqfs of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Muhammad Mukhtar Gomaa.

At the beginning of the meeting, the head of the delegation – First Deputy Chairman of the RBM RF, Executive Secretary of the Muslim International Forum Damir Mukhetdinov conveyed to the Minister the warm greetings of the religious leader of the Russian Muslims, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, and prayerful wishes for the success of the international conference organized by the Supreme Islamic Council under the Ministry of Waqfs of Egypt under the auspices of Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi. Expressing gratitude for the invitation and the high level of organization of the event, Damir Mukhetdinov stressed the relevance of the stated topic of discussion, especially in the conditions prevailing in the world due to the pandemic.

The cooperation of the Russian Religious Board of Muslims with the Egyptian Ministry of Waqfs and other state, religious and educational institutions of Egypt has greatly intensified in recent years. In particular, Mr. Gomaa became one of the honored guests of the VII Congress of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation on 23rd of September, 2019 and a participant of the VI International Scientific and Practical Conference "Fakhretdin Readings" on 24th of September 2019, on the platform of which he met with the Chairman of the RBM RF, Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin.

An important moment in the history of cooperation and intellectual exchange between Russian and Egyptian Muslims was the signing in December 2020 of a Memorandum of Cooperation between the General Secretariat of fatwa offices and agencies in the countries of the world, operating under the Fatwa Office of the Arab Republic of Egypt, and the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation. The document was signed by the Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin and the chairman of the Supreme Council of the General Secretariat of fatwa departments and agencies in the countries of the world, the Grand Mufti of Egypt, Dr. Shawki Ibrahim Allam.

The meeting which was held on March 14 was devoted to the discussion of building up the achieved level of cooperation and expanding the range. Damir Mukhetdinov announced the publication of translations of the works of Egyptian theologians has already prepared for publication, including "The Treatise on Monotheism" by Muhammad Abdo, "The Dialogue of the Reformer and the Mukallid" by Muhammad Rashid Rida, "Islam: the creed and the Law" by Mahmoud Shaltut, etc.in the Publishing House "Medina" in 2021. Theological works that have made an indisputable contribution to the development of all Islamic theological thought.

The Minister highly appreciated the theological magazine "Minaret", published in Russian, Arabic and English in the publishing house Medina and expressed the interest of the Egyptian side in publishing articles of Egyptian scientists and thinkers in the magazine.
The First Deputy Chairman of the RBM RF spoke in detail about the plans of Russian Muslims jointly with the federal and regional authorities to hold large-scale events in honor of the 1100th anniversary of the official adoption of Islam by the peoples of Volga Bulgaria and invited the Egyptian side to take part in the anniversary celebrations.

For his part, Mohammed Mukhtar Gomaa spoke about the latest publications of the Ministry of Waqf, the translation of theological works into different languages of the world, including Russian.

The Minister also spoke about the Academy of the Ministry of Waqfs, inviting the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation to actively cooperate on the basis of the Academy.

During the meeting, agreements were reached on cooperation in the educational, religious and educational spheres. The sides confirmed the high role of Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin in the development of religious life in Russia, establishing contacts with co-religionists abroad, and developing interreligious dialogue.
